Episode 017 - Klaatu's Window Manager Challenge

Welcome to another exciting episode! This show was recorded live January 23rd, 2010 in front of a live IRC channel. The show starts off with some announcements and listener feedback:

Deepgeek mentions Axel and aria2 (download accelerators) in his feedback.

Jonathan Nadeau a friend of TiT Radio, Linux Cranks, The Bad Apples, and The Linux Link Tech Show has launched Frostbite Systems; an online company that builds and sells pre-installed Linux computers with your choice of Ubuntu, Mandriva, Opensuse, Fedora, Sabayon or Mint. Frostbite Systems also offers blind optimized computers for blind and low vision users with Ubuntu and Orca Screen Reader configured to work out of the box. Klaatu interviewed Jonathan on The Bad Apples 3x01 back in June of 2008.

David Abbott from Linux Crazy Podcast is starting a study group to learn Python. David is gonna use the book Core Python Programming by Wesley Chun for a study guide.

Kim Hill, a New Zealand radio host interviewed Richard Stallman back in October of 2009. It's a pretty interesting 40 minute interview. Richard talks about 911, Airport Security, Law Enforcement, and of course Software Freedoms. Download ogg.

SeekerX has a couple of questions:

1.) First, I recall 330 talking about Free Linux Help Line (FLHL) a little bit ago, though I haven't actually seen anything new materialize. Any news on this front?

2.) The second thing is I'm curious as to your guys' impressions on Ubuntu's upcoming music store. Any thoughts?

Klaatu's LInux Multimedia Sprint taking place on irc.binrev.net #media on Jan. 26th thru 27th from 1400est to 0600est. "I'm organizing a "linux multimedia sprint" in which I hope to gather a few people online at one time, and together we will troll the internet and download as much free and open source raw artistic material (like gimp brushes, textures, soundfonts, sound loops, stock photos, templates, et cetera) as possible. We will then take all the material we've collected, create a few torrent files for them, and make the torrents available to anyone who wants to beef up their multimedia Linux distro of choice with all the usual "extra content" that other operating systems typically ship with."

Audio Promo: ogg

Update: Media tuesday January 26th!.......was a rousing success. 9gb of free and open source raw material for art was downloaded and is currently being compiled for your torrenting pleasure. Thanks to everyone who helped!
