Episode 002 - Potluck Roundtable

June 13th, 2009,  monsterb,  Peter without the 64,  Azimuth,  jlindsay,  threethiry,  pegwole,  Xoke, and Mrs Xoke sit down at the third TiT roundtable.

Peter kicks off the show with his new Dell Studio 15 (AU or USA) notebook.  He talks about sound issues in Linux and toward the end of the show he mentions Celestia the free space simulation that lets you explore our universe in three dimensions.

Jlindsay mentions SouthEast LinuxFest (SELF) and how much fun he had.

monsterb talks about his new motherboard, the GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L.  During the show lostinbronx asked about what case monsterb used.  So monsterb offered to list the parts.  Here is the newegg parts list:
Case: HEC 6K28BBX585 Black 0.8mm SECC Steel MicroATX Mini Tower
CD/DVD: none.  USB pen drives.
CPU: Intel Celeron 430 Conroe-L 1.8GHz 512KB L2 Cache LGA 775 35W Single-Core
Hard Drive: Already had a IDE 40GB 7200 RPM Western Digital

Azimuth talks about GPS navagation in Linux:  Roadnav,  (screenshot running on meso netbook),  G.MouseUSGlobalSAT

Xoke talks about three fun websites:  The Geek "Must Do Before You Die" Checklist    This Link Kills Spam,  &  Handy Cheat Sheet for Time Travellers

No TiT Radio feedback this week, so monsterb reads a Linux Cranks email and plays an audio clip from Linux in the Ham Shack #015.

The ending song is by Lou Watson, from the  "Lone Star State of Mind"  album.  Track #7  "Sittin' On My John Deere".

On the aftershow, Peter mentions "speaker-test" (command-line speaker test tone generator for ALSA).
Example:  speaker-test -c2 -l5 -twav

The next TiT Radio will be recorded live on June 27th.
