Episode 001 - Fluxbox

May 30th 2009, monsterb and friends talk about the light weight window manager called Fluxbox.  Check out the Fluxbox wiki for more information.  Sitting at the roundtable: artv61, Chad, Danns, J-Man, Klaatu, Peter without the 64, Threethirty, Xoke, Mrs Xoke, and Snack Machine B.

The show starts off with some tabbing (nice feature that allows you to tab windows together) love.

Danns tries to explain a Slit (a dock for any application that can be dockable), but artv61 and Snacky interupt him to talk about Fluxspace.  Danns finally gets to continue... but now there is some confusion on the difference between the Slit and the System Tray.  Snacky shows us a screenshot (BlackBox clone for Windows) of a Slit.  Typical programs that go into the slit are dockapps or gkrellm.

Next we talk about Themes and Styles:

Setting background color:  fbsetroot -solid gray20

Xcompmgr was mentioned (simple composite manager capable of drop shadows and primitive transparency).

Peter64 mentions David Abbott's Fluxbox Fun episode. (tips and tricks)
